The graphic is developed from a ceramic mosaic bordering both doorways in the south wall of the Mexuar Patio, the Fachada Solemne. The pattern has coloured interlace bands of various colours - black, brown, blue, green and purple, against a white background. It resembles the much more elaborate dados round the walls of the Sala de las Dos Hermanas. It seems that the Mexuar Patio pattern originally extended down to ground level, forming a dado across the width of the south wall, but the dado has now been replaced by more modern dados of small square tiles, which look rather out of place in this setting.
